Quick poll: Which category is your child in?

LOVES to read!

Could take it or leave it.

Really dislikes reading.

My goal—and I’m guessing it’s your goal too—is to get our children into the first category.

But what can you do if your child just isn’t motivated to read? There is actually quite a bit you can do to encourage a love of reading, but first, let’s do some detective work. The following must-read books for kids range from picture books to graphic novels, adventure to family entertainment.

Some are cultural landmarks that should be on each child's bookshelf. Others expose children to civilizations other than their own. Some are newer publications with the timeless character of masterpieces, the kind that is inherited down through families and institutions. Explore these kid-tested publications if you have a hesitant reader or a burgeoning bookworm on your hands.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

This is a beloved kid's novel featuring five youngsters who get a tour of Willy Wonka's mysterious candy factory. It is a brilliantly described chaotic adventure with hilarious, cartoon-like illustrations that will keep children engaged and smiling throughout.

Various sorts of misbehavior are displayed, and the offences are penalized in entirely appropriate ways. In 1971, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was converted into a film, and in 2005, starring Johnny Depp, was released. It was also published as an audiobook in the same year, which is fun. The book is suitable for kids over six years old.

The Complete Tales and Poems of Winnie-the-Pooh

According to research, there is a link between children's good self-esteem and acceptable media depictions. You want your child to read this book because it is unlike the Pooh stories' flashy, noisy, and marketed Disney renditions. The reading and language skills are more significant than the Disney animations suggest.

The classic Pooh novels are a pleasure for children of all ages, excellent read-aloud, and challenge younger audiences. The poems are among the smartest and wittiest children's poetry ever written. Ernest Shepard's beautiful artistic renderings perfectly complement the tone of everything. This collection integrates all four books into a single document that is ideal for extensive reading.

The Cat in the Hat

The Cat in the Hat, first published in 1957, is a classic children's novel. Cat and his sidekicks, Thing 1 and Thing 2, will appeal to young readers more than the guilt-tripping goldfish who serves as the truth's beacon. The bright illustrations in the book depict the Cat's upbeat attitude and enhance the fast-paced rhyming story, promoting

multiple readings. The Cat in the Hat, also known as El Gato Ensombrerado, is accessible in both Spanish and English. As a result, The Cat in the Hat is an excellent read-aloud for both children and adults.

The first book in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is thrilling. It honors children's intellect by encouraging them to confront the book's more considerable breadth and sophistication, play creative activities, and attempt to solve logical quizes.

It is the simplest in the trilogy, yet it posses sinfcantly terrifying elements for the attentive audience: a three-headed creature, an assaulting monster, a life-size chess game, a cloaked figure hovering carcases and bleeding unicorns, and contemplation of Harry's parents' deaths from years ago.

The 2015 extravagantly depicted, extensive version includes a unique cover from the initial United States cover and over one hundred full-color drawings by Jim Kay (A Monster Calls) that portray shimmery specters amongst all the stunning Hogwarts sights, personality paintings, and sections from mystical texts. As such, the book is most suitable for readers above eight years.

The Lightning Thief: Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1

It would help if you understood that Rick Riordan's first book, The Lightning Thief, is the first in a lengthy debacle which comprises five publications in the classic storyline, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, five books in a sequel series, The Heroes of Olympus, and five books in yet another sequel series, The Trials of Apollo.

Once children begin reading The Lightning Thief, they frequently finish all three series. They're that well-liked. Fourth or fifth grade is the most incredible time for youngsters to get started. This high-adventure sequence kicks off with a sardonically humorous 12-year-old whom most children understand and love imagining Greek mythology in the contemporary era.

In summary, you want your child to read these books as they not only capture the imagination but they foster reading habits among your youngsters. As such, children books are an entrance to delight, empathy, information and engagement.
